Brian began carving in highschool(2000) but didn’t get serious until 2008. His inspirations come from his fathers (Doug) style along with spearing experience and folk art interests.

Biggest influences include his father, Harley Ragan, Bob Johnson, Mike Holmes, Kirk Schnitker, Evan Kolstad, Tim Spreck, Dennis Bertrum, Larry Lange, and all past and present carvers/spearers that keep the sport alive. Spearing in Michigan with Harley and Holmes is what started it all and will never be forgotten!

Brian enjoys getting to spear for pike in Minnesota or Michigan and the challenges of competition at The Gathering in Perham Minnesota.
